The Proposal

A website redesign for a Canadian animal welfare non-profit's site for better user engagement and education. Enhance visuals, refine typography, and transform the homepage with a new color scheme. Follow Double Diamond Theory and Lean UX to prioritize usability and key features for a compelling online presence.

The Goal & Process

The goal of this particular project was to identify usability issues with the website and determine the critical features to prioritize for the next iteration of the product. The process this case study is based on is the Double Diamond Theory and Lean UX process. Aim was to incorporate the key phases of Discovery, Definition, Ideation and Implementation in this project.

Research

Our project initiation involved a thorough exploration of users and the current website. Through interviews, surveys, and market analysis, we sought to deeply understand user pain points, motivations, and decision-making processes. Subsequently, we conducted a heuristic evaluation and a comprehensive SWOT analysis of our competitors. Based on these insights, detailed user personas were created to serve as the guiding principles for the design process.

User Persona

Problem Statement

We have observed that users who are looking to volunteer with the Animal Protection Agency are not able to easily find the information needed to fulfill their volunteer application. As a result the World Animal Protection Agency is missing out on potential volunteers that struggle to find that path to action.

Storyboarding

Information Architecture

To optimize the user flow, we revisited the information architecture through card sorting and sitemapping, aiming to enhance navigation.

Site Mapping

Next Phase: Wireframing

These research findings played a crucial role in shaping the problem statement. Using a feature prioritization matrix, we identified key functions and features for our app.
